to as halbreds, pikes, lochabers and spears. This is a D&D collectible
which is scaled to 25mm in size.
This is a unique stationary catapult that stormed a castle or a battlefield. This was wheeled into position and then the warriors removed the wheels for better accuracy-catapults occasionally would jump once the tension was removed as the basket flung their heavy projectiles. For nearly 1,000 years, they were made from local timbers, but later models were also constructed with iron. It was cocked by using the long two-man iron poles at the end of the siege machine which is painted in a gun metal iron (in our photo). These long iron poles would be taken from their holes and placed into the circular ratchet cranking mechanism that brought down the center arm with its basket. The basket would then be loaded with rocks, or excrement of rotting carcasses, or putrid garbage, or red hot burning embers (we are using red Swarovski crystals to simulate hot embers in our photograph). Many had a range of 1300 feet and was first used around 400 B.C. in ancient Greece. The Greeks were the inventors of this powerful siege machine. The Vikings/Barbarians used several of them when they began their siege of Paris, France in the 8th. century A.D., some 1200 years ago. We've accented it lightly in gold and there are several colorful crystal accents on the hilt and the blade. Excalibur was the legendary sword of King Arthur. Legend states that the sword had many magical powers and he who pulls it free from the stone is the rightful heir to all of Britain. Arthur pulled Excalibur from the stone, thus proving that he was the rightful King to rule all of Camelot and Great Britain. Prior to his death, he had Excalibur thrown into the Enchanted Lake. The Lady of the Lake received the sword. The sword was never recovered and remains a mystery today, some 1600 years later.
